TENEVIA has been awarded the United Nations DAMIR ČEMERIN prize for the contribution of its innovative solutions to safeguarding and protecting populations from flood risks.
Awarded by the UN Secretary-General for natural risks (UNISDR), the goal of the DAMIR ČEMERIN prize is to promote and enhance innovative technology in the sector of natural risk management. It is only awarded every 2 years and aims more specifically at rewarding solutions and initiatives in the fields of understanding hazards and risks, monitoring, forecasting, warning, preventive information and educating populations, or taking risks into account in development and urban planning, as well as reducing vulnerability and preparing for and managing crises.
TENEVIA was awarded the DAMIR ČEMERIN prize for 2015 on October 8th by Margareta WAHLSTRÖM (Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction) and Ivo GOLDSTEIN (Croatia’s Ambassador to France). The prize was awarded during the UN’s European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction (EFDRR) in Paris, in the presence of delegates from the participating European countries: Albania, Germany, Armenia, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, Finland, France, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Moldavia, Montenegro, Norway, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, the United Kingdom, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the European Commission.
